What You Don’t Know About Bob Collymore Safaricom CEO

Robert Collymore a prominent businessman who goes by the name Bob Collymore might not be new to the ears of Kenyans who know him as the CEO of the most profitable multinational telecommunications company now in Kenya.

Despite his popularity, very little is known about him apart from the profitable margins his company has been making, and him been the most searched person as of twitter.

Bob Collymore is a Guyanan- born British businessman who is currently living and married in Kenya having a net worth of Ksh 276 million while his monthly salary going for 100 million shillings.

Bob is originally from Guyana which is a country in South America which has a population of around 1 Million people where they later moved from Guyana to UK at the age of 16 and has been the head at Safaricom since 2010, when he took over from Michael Joseph who left to Kenya Air Ways.

His entrepreneurial skills started at the age of 12 where he sold art pieces from plasticine moulds later been employed as an office boy.

Bob Collymore is married to Wambui Kamiru who is a Kenyan born and from central Kenya, an artist and the founder of The Art Space. It is stated that Bob is fun of art and there is the space where they met.

He has a 21-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter.

Bob Collymore did not go to university which is something unexpected from many people. He was offered a place at Warwick University but turned it down because he was not eligible for funding, however he believes in grabbing of opportunities.

Currently he is among four people who have been appointed as members of the National Cancer Institute board .

This is according to a Gazette notice of May 6 by Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki.
