Opera has released the new Opera News Lite, a slightly higher-volume Opera News app that offers more news with fewer data and is optimized for small-scale devices. Opera News Lite is also a quick download for users on small cell networks with a file size of less than one megabyte.
”We have developed Opera News Lite as per requests from our users. The app is highly responsive to slow network conditions as it minimizes the use of data and resources. With Opera News Lite, we are making Opera News more accessible to everyone, especially for users with older handsets,” said Jørgen Arnesen, Head of Marketing and Distribution at Opera.
According to GSM Arena, at the end of 2019, there were more than 3.8 billion mobile internet subscribers in the world with smartphones responsible for 65 per cent network connections. Often, these smartphones are not easily capable of storage in certain situations because some of them are in rural regions, which also have trouble with network access. Opera News Lite has been designed to render details accessible to all regardless of their geographical position or network access.
Opera News Lite provides core aspects of the daily Opera News app, such as customized news posts, press updates, and unique original material. Opera News Lite is, however, ten times lighter than the standard edition of the Opera News program.
For a market such as Kenya, where entry-level phones with minimal storage space are the standard, this device can prove useful to people who need it. One can download the app Here
