As Expected, the Huduma Namba exercise is now in its last and final week of mass registration and the government has issued a statement highlighting that it will not be extending the exercise.
‘For the avoidance of doubt, the mass registration exercise ends on Saturday, May 18th, 2019 and will have no extension’ Quoted a statement from the office of Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i (PhD)
The exercise that has been taken country wide with the diaspora kickstarting on 6th May 2019, with 154 registration kits distributed across 54 missions around the world and will be expected to end on 20th of June.
According to the report issued it quoted the exercise as a success with more than 65% Kenyans registering.
‘The turnout has been very impressive so far, and we have registered 31 million Kenyans. This is approximately 65% of all Kenyans, going by population statistics estimates. It is impressive to note that this has been achieved using local community-based resources.’
‘Having crossed the 30 million mark, we can say that a majority of Kenyans are receptive and have registered for Huduma Namba. To those that have already registered – thank you very much for heeding the call to register. We appreciate your taking time to register for this important exercise.’ It added.
The initiative had is focusing to register over 40 Million Kenyans before its closer on May 18th 2019.
