Muslims celebrating Eid al-Adha

Kenyans enjoy holidays and now have another reason to celebrate as Secretary of the Interior Cabinet Fred Matiang’i announced Monday 12 August as a public holiday to mark Muslim’s Eid al-Adha, Chief Kadhi Sheik Ahmed Sharif Muhdhar said.

Eid Al Adha is one of two Islam festivals held every year on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijja two months after Eid ul-Fitr. It is regarded as the year’s holiest month.

Eid al-Adha in Kenya the Muslim festival marks the end of Haj’s significant worship or Makkah pilgrimage. At the end of the Haj, Muslims around the globe are celebrating Eid Al Adha’s holiday and offering sacrifices.
